I kind of want to see Germany lose in the FINAL ROUND.
They are famous for being the Runners-Up in major international tournaments. =P

Spain is also famous for never winning a World Cup, and 'choking' away victory.
hehe

But I like Spain's players (except Torres....).

Xavi and Messi are my favorite footballers in the world, right now!

The QUARTERFINALS are my favorite part of the World Cup.
Every team has the same amount of rest before the match, and the 8 teams are all very very good!

CAN'T WAIT!!

~~~VAMOS!!~~~~
WORLD CUP TIDBIT #1:
Television ratings are in for the USA v. Ghana match!
19.4 million U.S. viewers
(that's an insane/astonishing amount for USA)
WORLD CUP TIDBIT #2:
Lionel Messi caught a cold, and missed practice Thursday.
:o
PRETORIA, South Africa --
Argentine star striker Lionel Messi skipped practice Thursday because of a mild cold,
two days ahead of the World Cup quarterfinal against Germany.
Team spokesman Andres Ventura said Messi came out for practice at the University of Pretoria,
but coach Diego Maradona decided to send him back to his room to rest.
Team doctor Donato Villani said, "Messi has cold-like symptoms, nothing serious."
He added that "tomorrow he will be examined thoroughly."
Argentina plays Germany on Saturday in Cape Town.
******HOLLAND shocks the world!******
QUARTERFINALS Result:
W: Nederland [ 2 ]
L: Brasil [ 1 ]
Game Notes:
- lots of diving/faking injuries...
- lots of Brasilian temper tantrums...
- Holland put away some extremely difficult chances, but whiffed on all the seemingly easy ones. lol
- Brasil played poor defense.
- Brasil recorded their first "own goal" in World Cup history.
- Holland player Robben is one of the most annoying players I've ever seen...
- ugly quality of futbol to watch, but overall, the match can still be considered a classic.
******URUGUAY wins in a Penalty Shootout!******
QUARTERFINALS Result:
W: Uruguay [ 1 ] ( PK: 4 - 2 )
L: Ghana [ 1 ]
Game Notes:
- Extremely dramatic game, and a forever classic!
- Suarez gets a hand-ball in the goal at the very last second, gets a Red Card, giving Ghana a free kick in the box.
- Ghana striker hits the post, and they have to go to a Penalty Kick Shootout.
- Uruguay wins on Shootout goals (4 - 2).
- Most heartbreaking loss in a World Cup match, ever.
******GERMANY produces demoralizing shut-out!******
QUARTERFINALS Result:
W: Germany [ 4 ]
L: Argentina [ 0 ]
Game Notes:
- "Don't cry for them, Argentinaaaaa~~~"
- Both sides played skillfully at the midfield position
- Kloser scored his 13th and 14th World Cup goals (1 shy of Ronaldo's record)
- Messi was held to zero goals in the World Cup... >_>
- Maradona gets in altercation with German fans (surprised?)
- David Villa scores again for Spain (5th goal in four games)
- First time in Spain's history that they reach the World Cup SEMIFINALS
- Paraguay missed a Penalty Kick in the second half, before Spain scored the winning goal
lol after seeing the netherlands come back to beat brazil, against an ok uruguay team id expect them to win easily, but drop a goal due to their sometimes suspect defense.
3-1
Germany is out of spains class. after that show on a great argentina team id expect the same amount of energy in a semifinal versus a spain team that barely won.
3-0
The videos are not available... Oh... wait. I must kick you now Hive, remember?
I have such a huge disappointment.
Yesterday 11am:
I was lying in the bed, when I heard the match started. I dressed myself quickly and when I'm going running down the stairs: "GOALLLLLLL FROM GERMANY!!!!!" WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!
We didn't play good enough since the game against Mexico. Anyways I still support our game team. They deserve a warm welcome ^^
******HOLLAND does it again!******
SEMIFINALS Result:
W: Nederland [ 3 ]
L: Uruguay [ 2 ]
Game Notes:
- Diving was not a huge issue this time around.
- Uruguay's Diego Forlan scored again (4th goal at WC).
- Uruguay's Suarez did not play, due to the Red Card he received for last game's hand ball.
- Robben scored Nederland's 3rd goal on a header.
******SPAIN is golden!******
SEMIFINALS Result:
W: Spain [ 1 ]
L: Germany [ 0 ]
Game Notes:
- Puyol scores with a header off of a Xavi corner kick.
- Germany's defense is suspect at crucial times.
- Spain is more experienced on the pitch, and it shows in the 2nd half.
That was such a poor effort by Germany. Their defense was terrible. Spain spent the entire time on offense and with possession. All the energy of the Argentinian game was gone. Spain doesn't score goals ever, just kept winning 1-0. How did we get shut out?? If Muller and that other guy weren't out this would have been different. ahhh poor Germany. (I'm German lol)
Attendance to top 3 million
The World Cup total stadium attendance will pass 3 million at the Germany-Spain semifinal match on Wednesday.
FIFA says 2,997,000 people have attended the first 61 matches, for an average of 49,134 with three games left to play.
The figures place South Africa third in both categories, behind the 1994 tournament in the United States and the 2006 edition in Germany.
South Africa had a total capacity of 3.42 million but few matches have totally filled stadiums.
World Cup yet to help S. Africa's economy woes:
"South Africa may reap a long-term windfall for defying the skeptics and successfully hosting the World Cup.
Short term, however, the profits are heading elsewhere,
while unions gripe and the nation’s already staggering unemployment rate climbs even higher.
Tournament organizer FIFA is happy with near-record ticket sales and huge global TV audiences.
Some of its major international sponsors also are reporting record sales.
Yet official jobless figures released during the tournament revealed that the extensive World Cup-related preparations
(including several billion dollars worth of new stadiums and transport infrastructure)
didn’t prevent a further economic downturn in South Africa.
The economic intricacies of this World Cup already are being studied in Brazil,
which will host the tournament in 2014."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Klose to miss Third Place match?:
Germany striker Miroslav Klose could miss the third-place match against Uruguay because of injury,
and with it lose a chance to take over as top scorer in World Cup history.
Assistant coach Hansi Flick says Klose has a back injury and could miss Saturday’s game in Port Elizabeth.
Klose needs one goal to match Ronaldo’s record of 15 for Brazil.
After Germany’s 1-0 loss to Spain in Wednesday’s semifinal, Klose said he was eager to play and mentioned no injury.
Well deserved for Spain. They played clean.
