We're still a small community and can update and add rules as we develop--and your input in Site Discussion (http://www.gf-park.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=6) can help. We welcome it. But these basic rules will help guide us to start with:
Courtesy rules: (no penalties unless a poster makes a serious habit of breaking these rules)
1) If you're making a thread, check that nobody else has recently made one about the same topic. If we end up with duplicate threads, either they'll be merged or the newer one will be closed.
2) Make your thread subject clear in your title--no tricks or intentionally-misleading lines. Try to avoid really vague titles, too; a thread subject like "So I was wondering..." doesn't help people figure out whether they should or shouldn't enter.
3) If you're posting images wider than 900 pixels, please keep them in spoiler code (e.g. "[hide][img]http://www.wonderfulwebsite.com/wonderfulpicture.png[/ img][/ hide]") to be considerate for people with lower-resolution monitors or settings. And if you're posting images wider than 1200 pixels, you're especially likely to get in trouble on this one. :P
Secondary rules: (everyone is discouraged from breaking these, but a poster may or may not be penalized for each individual case)
1) Keep your graphic language to a minimum--including profanity, sexually-graphic commentary, and ethnic or religious slurs. The most highly-offensive terms have already been banned and we don't want to censor the rest right from the start; we'd like to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, we reserve the right to censor anything we like if we see it as problematic.
2) Stay on topic.
Primary rules: (posters will be warned or banned for breaking these, depending on their history, and we request that good posters who find anyone breaking these rules report them in order to make for a better forum)
1) No direct posts of pictures that would be considered "NSFW" (not safe for work). You may link to them if and only if you give others fair warning about what they'll be clicking on--but even then, nothing fully explicit.
2) No discussion of where or how to illegally download games. (Talking about the games themselves, of course, is perfectly okay.)
3) Public posts and private messages alike are not to be used for physical threats, unwanted sexual advances, or any other type of harassment.
4) Respect others and don't personally attack anybody.
Cardinal rules: (anyone breaking these will be gone immediately)
Don't post or link to graphic or sexually-explicit material. This includes real-world violence.
