View Full Version : Introduce yourself, please ^^
Hello to everyone who has no idea who I am yet~ ^_~
Since the boards are still a bit small, I'll keep my introduction equally small!
Currently, I'm a student who's graduating from Portland State University (in Portland, Ore.) this summer.
My major is history, though I spend most of my time catching up in my Japanese language courses.
I have a TON of hobbies:
Tennis (my number 1 passion as far as recreation goes),
soccer, and golf are sports I play regularly~
karaoke,
writing,
jogging,
watching ESPN networks and Discovery Channel,
gaming (mostly DS),
internet browsing,
chatting it up on Skype,
attending sporting events (NBA, MLB, or NHL)
traveling (been to Canada, American Samoa, Honduras, Nicaragua, S.Korea, and Japan so far),
listening to and mixing music (electronic, jpop/jrock),
drinking coffee,
reading manga (whilst drinking coffee),
bar hopping,
enjoying night life,
trying out new restaurants,
playing with the kiddos (especially my two nieces),
going to movie openings/premiers,

playing paper and pencil puzzles,
designing paper and pencil puzzles (I design puzzles for GAMES Magazine),
and girls girls girls (hehe).
doomed1
07-05-2009, 08:57 AM
hey all, i'm doomed1, recruited from GAF by Jiggy where i post under the same guise. i'm something of an eccentric pretentious pseudo-intellectual and video game design nut. other interests include British motorcycles, fencing, pen and paper RPGs and playing the blues. hope to have fun :D
Hi all!
I am Prax, resident drawing person dude.
I'm currently a master's student at the University of Toronto's Occupational Science/Occupational Therapy program. In undergrad, I specialized in psychology (cognition & behavior) and majored in anthropology.
So seeing my academic background, I have lots of interests that include:
- art (esp. making art!)
- videogames (as entertainment and possibly as an artform)
- psychology (esp.developmental/child psychology)
- culture (esp. when it comes to discourse about power)
- religion (I'm not religious myself, but I'm fascinated by them)
- the occult (fascinating, all that symbolism and stuff!)
- outer space (sooo coool)
- dinosaurs (ah! Just as cool!)
- biology/zoology (alive things are pretty neat!)
- documentaries (I REALLY miss the Discovery Channel, The Learning Network, and all those other cable channels I used to get.. *sniff)
So yah! And some quirky things about me:
- procrastinator
- terrible sleeping schedule
- adds time spent sleeping on public transit as overall daily sleep total
- does jigs or changes walking style (sauntering? strutting? slowed?) according to music in iPod
- love watching CBC anchor Peter Mansbridge because he's is the ideal image of newanchoriness
- often has trouble drinking from a cup without spilling on self -- this should be a pretty simple thing to do!
transience
07-10-2009, 12:20 AM
Hi everyone - my name is transience. I frequent the irc channel and lurk GAF. You probably don't know who I am.
- I have an undergraduate degree in psychology that I don't use whatsoever
- I like 2d action games and RPGs a ton
- My most anticipated games are Shadow Complex, Splosion Man, Trine and Metroid: Other M
- I used to have the speed run record for Metroid: Zero Mission until a few months ago. Beyond that, I don't really have anything to brag about on the internet regarding my video gaming skills!
- I like a lot of electronic and indie music
- I love basketball and tennis
woo, hope everyone is doing well
AzureJericho
07-10-2009, 12:46 AM
Well then, I guess I'll make myself an introduction now. First off, my name's AzureJericho, similar to the handle that I use on a few other sites, NeoGAF included. I'm a would be Jack of All Trades who loves more than anything to pick up and learn new things and use these experiences to make interesting concepts and scenarios. I am an undergraduate majoring (or trying to, I'll elaborate shortly) in Computer Information Technologies and Minor in Digital Arts at Pace University in Lower Manhattan, NYC all in the movement towards becoming a Game Designer to some capability. In recent times however, due to loan difficulties and complications at home, I've opted out of the past two semesters and am currently at home until next semester (hopefully). I choose not to look at this badly though as it's given me a good bit of time to refocus, regroup and even do a few Game Design concepts I've been meaning to put together! Maybe I'll show them off sometime.
I have quite a few interests that I don't think could fit in one post if I got into things, but I feel that as you hear, err-- read more about or from myself you'll be able to see my interests are varied and multifaceted.
Personality and random quirky details include:
- Being terribly laid back.
- Preferring to gather the facts & reasons first before making a decision, observation or judgment.
- Having a bit of a "gentle giant" complex.
- Finding something to like about anything and everything. It kinda helps having an open mind when you go down the path I do, lol.
- I love to think, make people laugh, and just be easy going.
- I love the women, but I'm not loose.
- Favorite color is blue, shade royal, & gemstone sapphire.
- I love great art, music, animation, games the works and I don't really discriminate against any of it for any reason.
And since I haven't seen it mentioned in an intro thread on a Gaming Forum of all places, my favorite genre of video games are platformers and my "Favorite Game Ever" is Super Mario Bros. 3. With all of that said, I'm pleased to be here and hope to have a good time with you all.
Iam Canadian
07-10-2009, 01:24 AM
Well, okay, I guess I'll share a few details about my enigmatic existence. I'm not as enigmatic as Jiggy, though, and I guess the fact that I'm posting in here and Jiggy's not is proof of that. :3
Anyway, as you may or may not have guessed, I'm Iam Canadian, the man with the worst user-name EVER, according to GAF. Because I lack skills of any real use, I'm an undergraduate student majoring in English, which, as I am frequently reminded whenever I mention this to someone, won't get me anywhere in life. I like to write, though my Achille's heel, so to speak, is that I have often have trouble coming up with ideas, as everything's been done already and better than I could do. I currently reside in Alberta, which is distinguished by being the focal point of Canada's oil industry, being the birthplace of our current Prime Minister, which is at best a dubious honour, hosting the Calgary Stampede, also known as the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", not having a provincial sales tax, and having a complete trainwreck of a provincial government. No, I'm not particularly fond of this province, why do you ask? :3
Perhaps more relevant to the subject matter of this website, my gaming tastes skew heavily towards the retro, particularly the sixteen bit era, which I still consider gaming's overall high point. Japanese RPGs, 2D platformers, and 2D action/adventure games in general are my favourites. Those who know me will know that I'm fanatically devoted to Shigesato Itoi's Mother series, which is so poignant because it manages to succeed not only as fantastic RPGs, but also a legitimately well-written and enjoyable piece of writing (I hesitate to use a loaded term like "literature") in its own right. I also possess a virtually encyclopedic knowledge of all things relating to the Mega Man series, which may or may not manifest itself in some hypothetical future article...(as if it didn't already in the Rosenkreuzstilette feature!):metool
I suppose it wouldn't hurt my mystique too much if I included a few extra little miscellaneous tidbits...I, like Prax, possess an extraordinarily terrible sleeping schedule, ravaged beyond repair by a certain Smash Bros. Dojo. Case in point: I'm supposed to get up in two hours to leave on a trip, but that's not compelling me to sleep, oh no. My interests are as stereotypically nerdy as can be; aside from video games, I'm into such subjects as animation, both the western and anime varieties, comic books, science fiction and fantasy novels, religion and mythology, and history. I also almost universally pick the female character in video games when I'm given the option, regardless of the character's effectiveness. I'll leave it up to you to read meaning into that. ;)
I'm Iam Canadian, the man with the worst user-name EVER
yep ^^ A user-name so bad, it's good. haha
on topic: really nice to meet you all~ Welcome

I am Crow. I'm currently in training to be a writer. I participate in numerous writing challenges on Gaf and maintain my own weekly blog, which updates every Monday with either an obscure retro game review or an essay on gaming as a culture.
I'm an avid fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, which should explain my name and the ridiculous symbolism there in. (I was 15 when I created it.)
I work out often and am a black belt in Karate.

I'm not as enigmatic as Jiggy, though, and I guess the fact that I'm posting in here and Jiggy's not is proof of that. :3I'll post. I just need anywhere between seven and seventy weeks to get my multiple personalities in order here.

So, I'll look forward to it.Well, I don't mean I have great plans for spurring ideas, though now that you mention it I'll certainly put in my best on that front. I intend to make a pretty comprehensive resource for helping submit your work and get published. :)
Rotanibor
07-15-2009, 03:08 AM
Truendo said earlier tonight that he is 14 in GAF_WFC. I think he needs to make up his mind.
Now, it is time for Rotanibor's introduction. A few of you may know of me, but may not know much about my personal life. This is generally how I like to keep it, but I do have some trouble keeping my big mouth shut. For what I will reveal here, I am 22 years old and have lived in Southern California my whole life. I'll be 23 much sooner than I'd like, and I still don't know what I am doing with myself.
Beyond videogames, I do have various intrests of the nerd sort. I haven't read comic books for a couple months, but when I do get into them, they will consume my life until I find something else to move on to. You see, my passions tend to burn strong then wane. Perhaps an anime series or two will dominate me for a couple month or two, nary the game to be played or the comic to be read. Or I'll just drop everything and spend a month chatting non-stop online. As of late I have been wishing that my intrests could be more varied at once, and have been making attempts towards this goal.
The best thing to know about me is I don't really talk like the above paragraphs at all. It was a small exercise in sounding proper, and just plain screwing around. I pretty much don't take a lot of things seriously unless I consider them to be, well, serious.
I guess the last thing I should say is that I am here to help! I consider myself friends with the admins, and would like to help them make this site and forum the best it can be.

Oh, since this is a gaming forum, I should probably mention my absolute favorite games:
Phantasy Star II
Final Fantasy VII
Front Mission 3
Rune Factory Fanboy

Hive stole me from Neogaf
Glad to be here, looks like a cool forum with a community of gamers with similar tastes to mine. One thing I’ve noticed and like so far is that a lot of discussion threads have been made. Threads that would normally get laughed at or whatever on Neogaf. That’s cool because I like discussing topics like that.
As for personal details,
My real name is Mike, I’m 25. I like a pretty broad range of games with only a few types of games I don’t. I try to be optimistic about the games I play and am more than willing to overlook a game with flaws as long as it’s fun. I own a Wii, DS, PSP and PS2. There are games I’d like to play on 360 and PS3 but I don’t have an HDTV and my philosophy is if I can’t even keep up with the games I want to play on the consoles I own, why spend more money to add more to the mix?
I’m graduating college in 5 weeks with my Bachelors in Network Security. I’m engaged and getting married November 15th.
haha good point on the "topics that would get laughed at on GAF".
It's really great to meet you here and congratulations on the domestic stuff ^^
Now I remember you talking about playing Rune Factory 1 and 2 with your girlfriend one day (i think?).
Oh, and which RF do you prefer? 1 or 2?
Rune Factory Fanboy
07-24-2009, 11:19 AM
Thanks :)
I prefer the gameplay of RF2 but enjoy the characters of RF more.
Although one thing I like about the series is that the sequels star a new cast and the one that dosen't, RFF, is litereally a continuation of the first games story. Harvest moon started to get very tiresome to me with the same characters in different roles everytime.
RFFrontier is my favorite.
RFFrontier is my favorite.
awesome! It looks really really good, so I was hoping it turned out that way.
Have time to write a review summary??
I could get together a thread for GameFringe members to write reviews of whatever comes to mind.

Guess it's my turn.
I'm shykyoichi. Like most of you, I came from GAF. Hive kidnapped me from there. :metool
Should I mention which consoles/handhelds I own? Haha. Anyway, I recently bought a 360 so I have all current gen systems. Though playing my DS and PSP eat most of gaming time.
I've been a PKMN fan since RBY and have been playing in NetBattle and Shoddy when I feel like testing my teams.
Mmmm... For personal details, I'm a undergraduate in Linguistics Majoring in Japanese and Minor in German. (Take that Tierkreis! *Kicks Konami*) Haha. What else... Oh, I love to read books.
Btw, I see familiar names from threads I frequent on GAF. So gamers with similar taste, ne?
Yo, this is Oli from Gaf.
I just got approved for neogaf with the recent wave of juniors, but I've been lurking there for awhile. On most forums I use Olimar_91 as my SN.
I also have a DeviantArt account under Olimar91, and a Youtube channel under OlimarDP.
Anyway, good to be here, and thanks to Hive for the invite. :metool

Like most of you, got plucked from a line-up by Hive off of NeoGAF (username is the same :P).
About me...
I'm a 27 year old college grad who works in San Francisco full-time and has a part-time job at GameStop (well, hours have been sucking, but I still have my discount...lulz).
Been gaming since I was about six and haven't looked back.
I'm pretty much into all kinds of genres, though RPGs, action/adventure games, and most 2D games hold most of my attention.
Right now, I'd say that Fullmetal Alchemist (both the manga and Brotherhood) is sucking up my attention like crazy, but I'm never far from having some sort of gaming device whether it's my iphone, DS/DSi, or PSP on me at all times.
I'm into all sorts of music, tv shows/movies, and books - as well as a font of useless knowledge.
...And that's all that I can think of at the moment. If you know me from GAF, well then nice seeing you all again.

Okay, first off, I think I'm overdue for a thank-you to Hive, having sent me about 2 or 3 messages on GAF and here, none of which I have replied to, yet.
Thanks for telling me about this place!
I'm a frequent lurker over at Neogaf, (same name and avatar). I came out of the woodwork to chime in my two coppers during the dojo days, and faded back into obscurity once school and work began demanding larger chunks of my time.
I'm an aspiring graphic designer/comic artist and writer. I'm set to graduate in December with my bachelor's.
Favorite Games: Mario-series, Street Fighter III: 3S & IV, Pokemon RBY & GSC, Soul Calibur II, Legend of Zelda: LttP, Donkey Kong Country 2, Rock Band, Eternal Sonata, Mega Man 7 & X.
Plus many more.

ack.. you're post must have slipped through! Didn't notice it the first time T_T;
I wanted so much to graduate with a linguistics degree.. However, I chose History because it required much less credits and overall work. :p
And it's awesome you are a Pokemon fan, too. Most everyone here is, and we're freaking out over the Gold/Silver release coming up in Japan! ^^
edit: I'm actually shocked we haven't made an official Pokemon thread yet... whatsup with that?!

Hi,I have been kidnapped by Hive (Like everyone else here it seems O_o) too.
I am 21 years old. I love playing video games of course, I like most genres (with colorful, charming and funny plot), specially RPGs and platformers, but i really despite first person shooting, sports and anything with first person point of view, I feel that gaming (along with drawing) gives me the chance to relieve. I always play when I feel sad.
I have a Wii and DSLite, I also have access to a PSP( now broken :'() and a PS3.
Forgot to say that recently i have taken to like Anime and Manga.
I have many hobbies, drawing and caring for pets is some of them. I do have a DeviantArt (http://silverlunar777.deviantart.com/)and Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/silverlunar777) account, although are not active at the moment, if you want to add me be my guest :)
Usually i read more than i post, but i hope i'll be active here at least :)
Here's another Gaffer who got kidnapped by Hive :P
I'm 20 and am studying IBL which stands for international business and languages. I like the languages part a lot and it's nice to mix it with some economy, but only the analysis and management side in my opinion.
Games are a passion of mine like most others here, my favourite genre would be RPGs from all kinds but I like other genres too. Final Fantasy games are at the front with FFVIII leading the way.
I also like music of course and jpop/jrock in particular. Koda Kumi, Gackt and Morning Musume are my favs! But I also want a pie of Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, some Pink songs, Sugababes and Backstreet boys :3
In the anime and manga department, I'm not that much of a huge fan or follow any releases. But I do enjoy Wolf's Rain, Scrapped Princess and lots of romantic anime. I like more manga and it's a nice way to practice Japanese.
Meeting new people from different cultures and speaking different languages is a pleasure to me. I also like to listen to people and help them out :)
I think that's about it for me, no?

Um. Hi. This board reminds me a lot of another board that uses the similar vbulletin.
I kinda lurk mostly these days. I'd post rarely, so forgive me for being possibly a poor choice! ;)
But here we are. On the middle of east coast in USA, I'm a 30 year old female married to another gamer who's also a GAF member. Nothing serious about me other than I just love love love animals (domestic to wild), video games and movies.
I subscribe to Netflix for my movies and Backloggery (http://www.backloggery.com/philia) for my gaming listing.
I sported an Angel Star avatar on GAF, and soon I'll change my avatar to her when I get my good old desktop up and running. I like the Phoenix Wright series, but I generally like a LOT of stuff anyway! :D
I recently somewhat started liking manga and anime but not much of a history on anything specific.

A girl too! I'm so glad I'm not alone :D Welcome dear, I hope you enjoy your stay like I have so far.

Hello. From GAF via Hive, naturally.
I'm a Purdue undergrad graduating next year in CS. I don't have that many hobbies at the moment since I'm not at home much. But otherwise I'm into piano, table tennis, talk radio, cooking, and going out for walks on park trails when I have time. And gaming of course.
Favorite games of all time have to be:
Kirby's Adventure
Super Mario Bros.
Jetpack
Descent
Age of Empires 2
I recently somewhat started liking manga and anime but not much of a history on anything specific.
which manga do you read?
I'm about to make a Manga recommendation thread here soon~

Well... I should say graphic novels too.
I have read the following:
Powers
Blankets
Fables
Yotsuba
Azumanga Daioh
Death Note
That's about it really. I'm barely into the scene anyway, and I'm typically looking around for recommendations too. My husband's a huge fan of that silly boxing manga and One Piece.
I also really like Flight series. Flight is a collection of artist contributions and often is into the genre of "fleeting fantasy" of some sort and I really love those.

Um, hello! I'm Keio and I must be the only one that Hive tried to keep this sight from......:)
Well, about myself: I have a 170 IQ and the only job I qualified for is shoe salesman. I love games (of the video type, not the games women play), and I have somewhat of a class clown nature, so if you find people miserable and pissed off, it's because they heard me telling some jokes.
For real though I'm a 29 year old who loves games, my family, people willing to listen and discuss. So to you my dear friends I say, I'm in.

07-25-2009, 09:27 PM
Hello all! I'm Ramune and like many of you, Hive left a trail of shiny objects to this place from GAF. But I have to say, I think I'll like it here.
Anyway about myself, I'm 28 as of last friday, and I've been into games, animation and comics since I was a wee lad and needed a chair to even play an arcade cabinet (height be damned!). I mainly like platformers, shum'ups, RPGs of the Asian variety, fighters and remotely "obscure to American" Japanese games. Right now I seem to have stumbled into the world of Pachinko Slot games.
I have a A.S. in multimedia so video is my forté, and I was going for a Bachelor's in Media Arts & Animation, but tuition cost increases put a damper on that. I now work at a hospital and am looking to pursue medicine.
Hobbies include video editing, and getting my drawing skills up to speed again since I haven't been doing it as much since leaving college. I'm also found of writing and whenever I type something, I end up making long posts like this one. ^_^;;
I also work on a webcomic with my brother, which I'll link in the appropriate thread.
Thank you for having me! :metool
Hi, everyone!
I don't talk that much on gaf but somehow I was led to this site by Hive. I am 24 years old and I like to play rpgs and fighting games. For some reason I am attracted to real horrible games...
For music, I am really into jpop and a very big fan of music by Yuki Kajiura. I am also into mangas, anime, and gundams. That's it about me. I'll try to be as active as possible on this site.
For some reason I am attracted to real horrible games...
Yea? like what? lol

I'm a frequent lurker over at Neogaf, (same name and avatar). I came out of the woodwork to chime in my two coppers during the dojo days, and faded back into obscurity once school and work began demanding larger chunks of my time.
I knew I remembered you from somewhere. I have to say, your avatar always was one of my favourites. :3

Heyas, another gaffer here lured over by Hive. I usually just lurk on GAF but I guess i made one too many posts and got snatched away ;) Would've come here sooner but hadn't had access to my PC for the past few days since I was redecorating.
Anyway, i'm from the UK, currently in University, should be spending most of my time playing games but instead just lurk forums. Also spend time watching Anime and any decent US/UK TV shows. The platforms I currently own are PC (needs an upgrade soonish), DS (too many awesome games i want ;_; )and a 360 (being ignored for the time being but I'll get back to playing it eventually)
The types of games I play vary from month to month depending what I feel like, I enjoy everything from FPS's, RTS's, to jRPG's to MMO's. At the moment I have been playing on my DS mostly, finished Pokemon Plat recently and going through Final Fantasy 3 and TWEWY. I also have an urge at the moment to play frustratingly difficult freeware PC games like I Wanna Be The Guy and have been trying to learn to play Dwarf Fortress.

Hi everybody, my name is Eliana but many people calls me P-Chan!, I live in Argentina and I'm here because of Hive.
And my favourite hobbies are: drawing, reading (philosophy, novels, stories, manga, biographies, sociology, religion, esoterism...), studying (graphic design), spend time with my friends, playing (PangYa, board games...), writing, volley-ball, watching tv-movies-anime, photography, collecting, talking... and more, there's always more...

haha good job~
Looking forward to beating you at Pangya (tomorrow?).
Welcome! You like to draw too? That's awesome!
We need to start some kind of artsy club around here.

I had to read all of the intros before posting myself! Now.. what to actually put? Time for random spurs.
I got here due to Prax (we're related) one night before my surprise bach. party. I got sucked into the vortex that was the IRC channel, and consequently got invited here! More sleep would have been good for the party but nope! LOL
Time to point form!
Skills: Drawing, cooking, procrastinating, sleeping, and mangling cute cats. I love cats. A lot.
Habits: Sketching and never finishing, oversleeping, overeating, scratching face, staying up late, collecting cups, listening to a single song in a loop for over an hr while drawing the same picture.
Drinks: strawberry tea + lots of sugar, brewed iced tea, lemon and grapefruit coolers, young coconut drinks
Foods: cakes, noodles (no udon), soups, mashed potatos with green onion, parsley, sour creme, and peas! Okay naming fave foods is hopeless. Too many.
Games: SIMS 1-3, Cooking and Gardening Mama, Chew Man Fu, Ragnarok Online, WoW, Lineage 2, Animal Crossing.. Probably forgot plenty. But as you can see I like any games with food in them. I mostly play MMOs. I recently reactivated WoW again since fiance missed playing with me. HAH! I love watching people play RPGs but I have no patience to do it myself. FF7 and Chrono Trigger were the ONLY true games to ever make me do real fan art. Ever.
Shows: Sailor Moon (the inspiration in gr 8 to start drawing 'anime' instead of 'Disney'!), The Little Mermaid (sad anime and happy Disney versions), Beauty and the Beast, Fern Gully, Rockadoodle, Thumbelina (THE DRAPERY), Fruits Basket (the morals!), Trigun (donuts and cat), Friends (easy and relaxing to watch), Soul Mate (Kdrama.. I love this topic), Dragon Love (sad ending, I love those!), 1983 Return of The Condor Heroes! My love for this series is so deep you'd drown. My parents introduced me to this series as a kid (other than the one with the monkey, pig, demon and monk), and I was HOOKED onto dramas ever since. The characters have also inspired me in so many ways, and showed me the full extent of what love is: wonderful, unexpected, and difficult.
Okay time to stop. It's too long now!

Hello everyone. I am 25 and from Australia. Although currently been living and backpacking through Canada for the past year and a bit. If anyone has a couch I can sleep on that would be great.
As for interests and hobbies, well travel for sure. Uh, not much else. I like to waste time online but I also love trying new things. I learnt to snowboard this year and have started to learn to surf in the last couple of weeks. I love being outdoors, hiking, at the beach, whatever, but also like doing girly shit like shopping. I just play video games when I have time, pretty much just on my DS since that's all I can carry in my backpack!
I found out about this place through Rotanibor.
Oh yeah, and I have a diploma of Multimedia but have never done anything with it. Mostly I work administration type jobs, which is boring as hell, but gets me by.
nice to meet ya! ^o^
I'm also a snowboarder (when I'm not too lazy to get my gear and go up Mt. Hood)
Whistler is my favorite spot to board, so far~

Cool, I would like to go to Whistler, just not this Winter with the Olympics on. I kinda suck at snowboarding even after working at a ski hill for 7 months, but I have fun anyway.

Hey! I was recruited a while ago, courtesy of Hive, but I've been swamped with work and lately, Dissidia, haha. But taking a break to jump over here to say "hi". I recognize quite a few names!
So, about me, hmmm.....
I make my living as a writer, though you probably wouldn't know it based on my posts. Earned my degree in something totally unrelated, but found my way into it and love it.
I work a TON though. Most weeks it's 50 to 60 hours. Doesn't leave a lot of extra time, but when I do get some, I play games! And browse GAF. They go hand-in-hand right?
My first console was the NES and I've owned every Nintendo and Sony console since, with a 360 thrown in. My absolute favorite game is Final Fantasy VII. I won't even explain why because I'm sure I've blabbed enough on GAF about it. I genuinely love almost every game in the series (except VIII)
In addition to FF, other favorite series:
Ace Attorney - this series is so brilliant
Persona
Legend of Zelda
PSX era Tomb Raiders
Sorry for the long post! Good to be here :)
Hey Rataven ^^
Really glad you could finally introduce yourself!!
I'm also a HUGE HUGE fan of the Ace Attorney games (and manga, artworks, OSTs, musicals, ect.)
Make yourself at home here, because god knows we need more participation from our wonderful GF members~

Ilasu
10-18-2009, 10:06 AM
Hello everyone! My name is Ilasu, I got here because of merit, and in turn through Prax as well. AND now I know why merit was so dead tired at her own bach party :P. According to merit's mom, as of a couple months ago, I'm now her adopted daughter lol. I'm the same Ilasu that partcipated in the first colouring contest and now I gotta get started on the 2nd one now hahaha.
Little tidbits: I like to draw and paint. Taking naps is an essential part of my existance. I'm allergic to ton of things, thankfully not deathly allergic to anything, even though that list seems to keep growing each year lol. I enjoy taking walks in the park(s), especially this time of year when the leaves are all brightly coloured ^_^
Games: I've been completely surround by men in my family who play games my entire life, wether it be on PC or console. So it's not surprising I ended up getting into games as well. Grew up with an imported Super Famicom? (Super Nintendo), then moved onto the N64, then the Playstation 1 (which I still have, though only works if you have the machine tilted on it's side hahaha). Other than that I have a PS2 sitting in my living room just collecting dust at the moment. My BF owns ALL the current gaming systems, you name it, he's got it... He's more of a gaming fanatic than I am. I've managed to learn to take naps next to him while he plays all those online/FPS games, Halo, Gears of War, Fallout, Call of Duty, Uncharted etc. etc... through all that deafening gun shooting sounds XD. How I've managed to do that I'm not sure, I can't even differentiate half of these games lol.
My favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy Tactics (the first one) and am very slowly in the process of playing the re-make of it on the PSP. For the most part I enjoy playing simulation games like the Sims, Transport Tycoon?, and I can't think of anything else atm. Grew up playing turn based strategy games on the PC like Masters of Magic, Fantasy Empires, Heroes of Might and Magic, Stronghold (DOS days lol).
One thing I can't play is FPS games. I don't have enough coordination and I literally make myself nauseous while trying to learn. BF tried to teach me Counter Strike and I made us both barfy hahaha. Ohh and I hate the Wii remote, I can't hold the dumb thing properly so give myself wrist cramps lol.
Okay WAY more than I was expecting to write out. Thanks for the invite merit and prax and glad to be here!

haha what?? how did it get past the security questions??
Jiggy
11-16-2009, 07:57 PM
Maybe the security question is a common enough "type" that people have figured out how to bypass it. For example, maybe the bot looks for a sentence preceding the question box, then pastes in anything from that sentence that's between quote marks.

Evening gents and ladies, name is Federico. I was suggested to make an introductory post here so I'll try to oblige as best as I can.
I'm a writer/graphic design student/marketing delver/entrepreneur and above all a gamer. I live on the other down under, Argentina (in Buenos Aires, for those who are interested.) I have been interested in games since an early age, which most likely was the by-product of being an only child with little people my age to relate to... or have nothing to do with it at all.
In any case, I enjoy games for more than their ability to entertain. I value the role of "play" in our lives and believe that games provide a very fruitful framework for dealing with challenges and learning. I also believe that games can help us create more attractive pathways for personal growth. That being said, I just love sitting down with a good videogame, getting the squad together for some roleplaying or pulling out the dice bag for a cool board game.
I probably skipped over important stuff. If there is anything you would like to know, please ask... I'm glad to answer any questions that seem appropriate.
Cheers!
PS: Oh, I forgot... I have a little place over at http://www.dropthedice.com I usually deal with games and game design over there, you're free to visit or ignore at your pleasure.
PS2: I was enticed to join by pchannn (I'm sure the lass has a reason for the 3 bloody "n"s :) ).

Hi all I'm Phil. I just turned 18, currently live in Minnesota, and I'm a senior in high school. As of now I think I will be going to Arizona State to become a finance major, economics minor.
I'm a real sports junkie. I follow most and play many of them. I play varsity football and golf, and I am a really good bowler. My school doesn't have a bowling team but I bowl in tournaments all the time. I also am an avid tennis player. I also really love classical music. I listen to rap too don't worry but I really enjoy most types of classical music. My favorite would be Symphony No. 7 by Beethoven. I also play the first chair Viola in my schools orchestra, but I really don't focus on my own play, I am in the orchestra so I can enjoy listening to everyone else play. As for normal music I pretty much listen to whatever is good. my ipod has a playlist that includes Jukebox Hero by Foreigner, American Pie by Don McLean, Brown-Eyed Girl by Van Morrison, and In Da Club by 50 cent.
I once told my friend, there are four things that I love in life: competition, friends, music, and girls, not necessarily in that order.
I have a weird personality in that I get obsessed with things until I become the best at them, and then I move on. When I was a smaller kid that thing used to be video games. Across the Sega Genesis, N64, GameCube, Wii, PS, PS2, PS3, recently the Xbox 360, and every gameboy from pocket to the DS, I have been a gamer.
I got started here when I met Jiggy in a game of PangYa. I still play pangya occasionally. Most recent games I've finished are Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in time for the PS3 and Assassin's Creed 1 for the Xbox 360. My favorite game of all time is probably split between Banjo-Kazooie and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, both for the N64.
The thing I'm currently obsessed with is online poker. I play for real and am currently ranked in the 98.7th percentile (100% being the best player in online poker) of all players by officialpokerrankings.com. I pretty much play everyday so if you play on pokerstars, look up 10philim sometime and say hi.
So yeah, thats about it! If you have anything else you want to know let me know! See you around the forums!
Hi all I'm Phil. I just turned 18, currently live in Minnesota, and I'm a senior in high school. As of now I think I will be going to Arizona State to become a finance major, economics minor.
I'm an Oregon Duck, so welcome to the PAC-10.
You'll find that it's a much better Conference than BIG-10 (11), as of late, regarding football.
I'm also a sports nut, and crowphoenix is somewhat, as well.

We have a lot of Deviants here.
Some are professional, such as Orioto.
While others are making a side-business out of their artworks, such as Prax, merit, and pchannn.
Also, each DA contributor gets their own "gallery" thread, so I'll have yours up by tonight.

Oh, um..... I was just PM'ed a reference here from the member known
as Hive, who was seen in Galbadia Hotel's forums in which I was also
hosting some of my extracted OST files and rip-attempts from some
game songs which I own.
The person has contacted me just a few minutes ago, so I decided to
drop in, have a look, and register before I go to bed.
I'm a bit slow in mind at the moment since I'm extremely sleepy
and quite stressed out because of college work and such... and do
note that I'm a cat who has a dark past in her life... I may act
eccentric from time to time due to especially the incident where
I almost lost my life to some neighbor-excuse of a convict who
attacked my father on May 21 of 2009 around approx. 09:45PM in
the middle of the night or not too later from then in that night.
Things get busy in my area quite a bit since that convict is
still running free, and even to a new incident, he has yet
violated his restraint order yet again just when I came back
from college a few hours ago via mail contact of a fraud letter
attempting to leech personal information (and that letter will
be used against him this Friday!), and aside of that, I still
yet have to go to college every tuesday and thursday for class.
I have also been done in with online enemies and betrayal as
well, and eventually ended up almost speaking the same exact
words as one of my most all-time favorite characters from Castle
Shikigami 2 (who you see me as; the girl who is the first real
boss there) when I was last betrayed and humiliated and had to
cast away my first used online names and suffered a loss of
three other sites of my own hand to them...
Aside of my dark attributes, I do have positive issues as well;
if any of you are into minor development, I have free resources
scattered within my forum, and some exclusive files within my
newly created website for 2010 up-to-date year users. My forte
in amateur development involves in at least four years of
experience with, but not limited to the following known systems:
Graal Level Editor NPC scripting (weapons and characters) with some levels of my own (5 to 7 years, I'd give myself moderate to advanced level),
Game Makers 4 & 5 (not too advanced, but know the basics),
Win-Mugen character and stage development (Three to Four years at least, currently a hot-topic I'm on at this time),
RPG Makers 2000, and 2003 (Four years at least, yet another hot-topic to me and my group),
BGM edits for Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst (a private server which allows free play! I plan on making a batch of character-skin edits for there for myself as well, yet I lack the time due to court martial issues and college progress...)
sound ripping requests (depends on which game, sometimes it's not as good as one would want.... mostly PS2, PSP or some PC game sound effect rips in specific, I have a few which may be useful),
Artwork (somewhat my weakness, spriting is my weakness...),
Storywriting (mostly based off of my dreams, I sometimes have freaky ones, and others which may be *cough*inappropriate*cough* for certain audiences under age or not into "that sort of thing"),
Video making (youtube trash),
and a taste for character creation in the Soul Calibur Series (3 and Broken Destiny, currently writing an FAQ for SC-BD's "The Gauntlet" mode and will host it on my website, forum, and the GameFAQs.com site)
As many of you can see, I'm a girl who's very much into gaming.
The games which catch my fancy quickly are the following categories:
SHMUPs (scrolling shooters. Some were made in the same year I was born in; such as Silpheed, Thunderforce 2, and Super R-Type.),
Vertical Shooters, Fighting, Role-Playing (RPGs), Action-RPGs, Action (alone), Racing, Adventure, Designing, FPS (First-Person Shooters), MMORPGs (Massive Online RPGs... mostly withOUT Player Killing.), Co-Op multiplayer games, and a hint of puzzle types.
For a closing statement, you can be aware that my first real
name is Kasumi. I'm asian-american (ex-Japanese), but raised
only with english, so mind me being very erroneous on either
side of that line. I'm very much into spirituality and tend to
"connect" with certain game characters, such as feeling another
girl's pain, rage, sadness, happiness, excitement, fear, live
personality connection relationships, encounters in dreams, etc.,
even to freaky things of where people tamper with me the wrong
way IRL (In real life offline), they will suffer a curse either
minor or major. While online, I have various names used for
myself; however, you can refer me to these few at most: Renetona
(original nickname for me), Arala Cran, Etna, Sophia Xiaoyu (my
enemies know me by this name...), Shiroi-Ren (or White Len, or
just Ren), Crystal Core, Suigintou-X, Firefly (oldest and very
first used online name for myself ever), Salamander (a silly
name but of my favorite game, aside of Gradius), Shikiyoku,
Tamiko, Neko-Shinobi Mao... or I'll simply let you know if it's
me directly since I have some buffoons trying to impersonate and
humiliate me every now and then... I'm currently 21 years of age
(April 20, 1988 A.D.), and just some silly, shy girl who's
already taken by a boy and his brother as well, yet I'm into
something which may offend others from time to time... but I
will sharply refrain from such while here, as I don't plan on
breaking any of the rules at any time whatsoever. As for location
questioning, I can't give much due to parental restrictions and
security reasoning, but I live in the USA, and in San Diego. You can
find only a single photo of me on my Myspace file, but I don't like
leaving it around that much due to the previously stated issues.
To have better information, please refer to my newest site oriented
for this year directly: http://heavenlysolace.ucoz.net
or my forum.
I can hardly go around at times due to rough situations doing me
in... I also have family members who go online at most, along
with certain friends who are very close to me and stay in my
same house and run off of the same router, so if you find
matching IPs, please do not fall for the same childish incident
which has caused a "friend" of mine to become a unforgiven,
wretched, and vile archenemy who's a madman and is simply
inferior and fails to understand anything.
For here, I take appearance as Soul of Arala Cran due to how my
life has changed sharply to her own, and that this seems to be a
SHMUP-oriented forum with appeal.
Now please excuse me, I need to rest up... I tend to be as
nocturnal as a cat, but it's been wearing me down since stress
has caught up....

The Blind Archer
04-09-2010, 11:06 PM
Alright, lets do this.
I'm the Blind Archer, and if anyone here is a part of any major Fire Emblem communities, odds are you'll know that name fairly well by now... not to brag or anything.
For everyone else, the simplest way to put it is that I'm an artist of many styles, and I'm in the slow process of getting my name out there. I'm a college student emphasizing in digital animation, particularly in the form of 3D modeling and animation work. As far as gaming goes, I've been a Nintendo devotee for... damn, I forget how long. If/when I have spare time, I do sprite art (primarily) in the GBA Fire Emblem style, but as with most people my age... time is a fickle thing.
Games fall into one of two categories for me: "fun" and "not-so-fun". And in terms of fun, I've got a broad range of interests in gaming genres and series'. Favorite series is definitely The Legend of Zelda, but other titles like Fire Emblem (if you haven't figured that out by now... derp), Mario, Metroid, and so forth are of interest to me, first-party wise. I tend to like installments that the general public doesn't (heck yeah, Conduit and Castlevania Judgment!) and steer away from the "hardcore" pick of the month.
Aaaand that's enough tl;dr-ing for now.
awesome intro! Really glad you joined, but how did you find this place?

Yay for Fire Emblem, one of the most consistently-great series around.
And that's a really cool and original name you've got there, something we're usually lacking here. XD
Edit: Hmm, I kind of stopped putting the URL in my videos because several of us were thinking we wanted to change the site name, but maybe we should make that top priority so I can add them back (although today I'd rather do them with annotations than watermarks--I could also live with intro segments only, but so far I've always done pure text and I think it's a little boring that way).

Thought I would drop in and say hello. :)
I stumbled across the forums earlier this week by accident, when I was searching for some music from a live concert. Hive happened to have it and send it my way, which I thought was awesome, especially considering I was a complete stranger to the forums.
Seems like a great place though, and I will definitely be hanging around some more. Not sure what all to say to introduce myself though. I am 28 years old, and your average PC girl gamer from Texas. I primarily love FPS games and FPS/RPG hybrids, but I enjoy playing all types of games really. I hope to transition more to the PS3 though later this year.
Not sure what else to toss in. Looking forward to joining in with the forums though, and thanks again to Hive for being so awesome and helping me, as well as inviting me to stick around.

Ty both for the welcome!
I am definitely familiar with Serei no Moribito and the music. I am an avid Ghost in the Shell series fan, and a friend recommended Moribito to me since it was directed by the same person. Excellent series, and an excellent soundtrack. I believe Balsa Hashiru was the song I became attached to the most, although it is tough to really pick a favorite.
Kenji Kawai is excellent overall. I discovered him from the original Ghost in the Shell, and have continually been fascinated with his music since. Watching the live concert videos on Youtube though, which I just discovered, blew me away. I cannot imagine what that was even like in person.
Chopstix, what's your opinion on the show: The Irresponsible Captain Tylor? =P

Thanks Jiggy, I will look into that. :)
So... I guess I should say some more about myself- my name is Ruby, I work at a daycare. Hive introduced me to this site and is also introducing me to pokemon.
I don't really know anything about gaming- I only play nintendo 64 Mario Cart racing- so I might be a bit lost on this site, lol.
Well anyway, my two favorite pokemon are Eevee and Puplip. :octokitty

To be honest, when I made the site I didn't even want to have a non-gaming section... but with the way things turned out, sometimes General Discussion interests me even more than the gaming section. Maybe it's because the people here are a pretty wacky and diverse bunch.

..and because there's more to life than gaming.

Yes, in addition to gaming there's also gaming fanart, text and video reviews about gaming, using spreadsheets and FAQs to figure out how to succeed at gaming, budgeting in the money needed for gaming, researching and buying equipment necessary for gaming, recording footage of gaming...

Hello! I'm Dolly.. at least that's what everyone calls me :heart
I really like online gaming and console gaming (but only if the game is cute!)
When I'm not gaming I'm either drawing, writing songs about my games, or doing real life adventuring!
