I don't watch TV at all so it's hard to comment. I've always viewed Cable TV as a superfluous luxury.
The money that it would cost per month for cable could buy me 2 or so games a month. Games I can sell and make most of my money back. Much more worthy of my money I think.

About time. Bad shows are bad, good shows are better off purchased on DVDs (cheaper over time and they can be owned indefinitely), and there are no news sources on TV that aren't done multiple times better on the Internet for free! About the only way I can see justifying a cable subscription is if a person is rich, set for life (not the same thing as rich), or watches a large enough number of shows that the equivalent DVD costs would outweigh the monthly fees--and they have no interest in owning the show.
ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN+, Tennis Channel, Golf Channel, BBC, BBC2 <---- I still need these

Ahhh cable... It's probably been at least a decade since it's been in my presence! I too think it's an unnecessary luxury since I don't watch most of the stuff on TV and I hate ads getting in the way.
Yeah, TV doesn't really do anything for me, either..
I enjoy sports programs and BBC stuffs, but that's about it.
Not worth paying for, and if I truly wanted to watch something, I'll just visit a friend's home! haha

yeah, I'm sleeping right now. Whatsup? How do you find time for it with all the TV-watching and picture-scouring and news-gathering and tennis-playing and online-chatting and forum-posting and gaming and friend-hunting and blind-dating and non-blind-dating and, well, everything?

edit: tennis "season" for me doesn't start until November. I'm taking it easy from that until then. ^^
